Last day, fun and tiring! We made a lovely breakfast in the flat, and headed out by 11. I’m fighting a cold now, too… Ugh! We headed for the Brandenburg gate on the S-Bahn. Came out into the crowded square… And it was nearly full sunshine. Wait, where are we, again?
The square was busy with a ton of street artists… Shop napped a pix with a cool puppet and in front of the main gate. Walked around to the Reichstag, and were disappointed to find that we had to have a reservation to get into the cool glass dome. Perhaps another day.
We had planned to catch the bus, but it was so nice we decided to walk through the Tiergarden. We caught the bus (after waiting twice in the wrong place), at the victory statue and headed to Charlottenburg Schloss. The castle is pretty, and impressive. sadly the Main buildings are closed on Mondays. we wandered the grounds foe a while though and took lots of pix of the gardens.
We enjoyed a lovely Ice cream snack before getting back on our city tour bus for a stop or two. We got off in the antique district and poked around in the stores for a while. Around 4 re-boarded the bus. We rode tIl they made us get off at 6, by Frederickstrasse. We were surprised that it took that long to go through the stops, but the commentary was interesting and we got to see all the major plazas and sights. There are some amazing areas of the wall that have graffiti and artwork painted on them. We would have gotten off to look except that our typical Berlin weather (downpour) resumed, some just stayed put.
For dinner we headed to an amazinglybcheap French restaurant, Cafe NordSud, recommended in Lonely Planet. 7.5 euros for a 3course dinner. Delicious doesn’t even begin to cover it. Back to the flat for an early night. Our wake up is at 4 tomorrow for a 4:30 taxi.
Sad to leave … But always happy to return to my own bed, and of course the crazy Skittles. See you all soon, I hope!!!
One Response to Tschuss (ciao) Berlin !
